You have to remember that most upper end SSD drives have a MTBF or time before failure of 2.5 Million hours.
Now if you ran it for 24 hours per day, 7 days per week you would put in about 8,736 hours per year for 286 years. Chances are you would upgrade the drive before it failed, also the newer SSD drives tend to be RAID friendly to stripe them and increase performance.
Now that being said, there is always a chance the drive could fail, just as with the older platter drives.
Either way they are worth every penny, and in case you're wondering I'm using the OWC SSD drives which are made for Mac, but I also use the Kingston HyperX, which also works great.

Re: PREP TO POST // Lighting for Hair & Makeup // Downtown LA // Apr 28-29

Can you tell me what tools if any we should bring to workshop, or is it more watch and learn?

Re: HOW IT WAS LIT: HOLLYWOOD ICONS

Sean, thanks for sharing. I use iCloud for my iOS devices and for documents and such, but not for uploading TB's of data. I think that's a huge waste of time.

I will be switching my system volume over to an SSD when I feel they become more reliable. As of now, I can't fathom spending hundreds of dollars on a device that has a lifetime of less than a year.

Re: MUST HAVE APP: DISKSOMNIA

Couple of thoughts... Sean, are you considering a cloud solution as part of your overall DAM solution?
Also besides reliability, (and cost) the solid state drives are still small for a storage medium compared to the 2TB / 3TB mechanical counterparts. Having said that, the SSD's do look like they can contribute to the speed quotient by hosting the OS and associated workflow applications as well as having one or two as supporting cache disks.
My $.02.

Re: PREP TO POST Lead Educator Sean Armenta in Beverly Hills Lifestyle Magazine

LOVES IT!!!
Thanks for sharing!!!

Re: MUST HAVE APP: FOREVERSAVE

How many version do you save in Ps and for a certain number of days?
